Foi em Moçambique que há 3 anos nasceu o projeto Encontros. Entretanto o projeto ganhou muitas outras formas em tantos outros lugares. Estou de volta para mais uma experiência com comunidades moçambicanas. Desta vez vim colaborar com a Aidglobal num projeto de bibliotecas escolares numa localidade rural, no Chibuto. Todos os dias representaram desafios novos de adaptação, flexibilidade e disponibilidade e acima de tudo reflexões pertinentes sobre para que servem os livros afinal?

Sadhana needs your help
February 2nd, 2012Bom ano a todos, infelizmente o ano não começou da melhor maneira em Sadhana Forest, o projecto onde estive a trabalhar na India com a children´s land, de onde resultaram os postais que muitos de vocês compraram no Natal. Um ciclone quase arrasou com toda a infra estrutura e mais do que nunca, é agora que toda a contribuição faz a diferença. Ainda tenho postais para vender…relembro que os postais custam 2€ e este dinheiro segue directamente para a conta do projecto sem custos de intermediário. Gostava muito de poder juntar uma boa quantia de Portugal para enviar para a reconstrução de Sadhana. Podem voltar a ver os postais aqui no site. Christmas is knowing the door and this is a friendly and beautiful proposal for everyone. Because Sadhana Forest it´s not a profitable project, instead of selling, we receive donation in change for postcards, we suggest between 2 and 3 € per postcard and we offer you the postal expenses. Thank you so much Sadhana for the pictures, you are the perfect model (Sadhana is also the name of the little girl in the pictures.
Sadhana Forest
November 9th, 2011Do you want to paint your life? This was how Sadhana postcard fundraising project started? there we were, me and a group of children and volunteers from children´s land, an educative project from Sadhana Forest, Auroville, India. After a big yes, the children started to paint self-portraits, local houses, the school bus, birds, animals, children´s games… beautiful drawings. I really wanted to collaborate with this altruist project called sadhana Forest but 2 weeks is really short time to develop the Encounters project. So, we decided to use local children imagery to creat postcards. With the help of the children and the volunteers we painted 1000 postcards using the stencil technique. The recycled paper was generously donated by Auroville papers.

It´s very easy, you just need to buy beautiful hand-made and eco-friendly postcards. Encounters in Chorao – GOA

Chorao it´s a small island from Goa state, in the colonial time people would call it Ilha dos Fidalgos, to arrive there we need to take a ferry from Panjin, ten minutes later reality changes completely. We enter in countryside, with rice fields along the only road that crosses the island and take us to Saint Bartholomeu’s high school. During one week the Encounters´s project happened in partnership with SPACE, an organization that works in different schools with literacy, activism, theatre and fine arts projects.
Dom Bosco Special Training Centers
September 28th, 2011This week I started the Encounters Project in the Dom Bosco Special Training Centers in Odxel, Goa. This is a very special place runned by Salesianos in a wonderful location in the cost. Among many other things this center have school classes for migrant children, street children and from low socio-ecomic families: these children came from migrant families that often change place searching for work special in construction. In the classroom most of the time it’s really difficult to grab their attention, but painting it really have worked as art therapy!
Encounters in Goa
September 18th, 2011We started the Encounters´s Project this week in Goa at the end of monsoon season. Around 40 children, from 7 to 10 years old from Bal Bhavan, an art school in Panjin started to do the book with their life´s story. We had konkani, portuguese, hindi, marati e and english words, dreams with elephants gods, samosas and bajias, snakes in the park, jasmine in the hair, cricket, flower paintings..
